Okay, so here we go…

Once upon a time in July 2024, there was a beautiful gathering of Jesus lovers in Buea, fondly called the Jesus Party.

It was here that our paths crossed. We truly believe this connection was specifically orchestrated by God, and He has kept proving this to us in several ways. I (Mafor) remember the moment I walked up to Fon to say hello and he flashed his warm smile. Our conversation flowed effortlessly, as if we were long-lost friends catching up. So naturally, we exchanged contacts and promised to keep in touch.

FON:

As we began our daily WhatsApp chats, we talked about any and everything... our dreams, our lives, our fears and hopes. And then, I (Fon) asked to meet Mafor in Yaounde, where I finally took a deep breath and confessed my feelings. The world around us faded as I realized how deeply I cared for her, too.

MAFOR:

Despite the miles between us—him in Illinois and me in Cameroon—our connection only grew stronger. We got to know each other better, to know each other's families, and some of the loveliest coincidences (God-incidences) in both our families' histories that are, once again, proof that this was His thing.

Yes, there were nights when I’d stay up late, excitedly waiting for his messages and calls, my heart racing with every notification. Call me a truly finished woman, hehe...

FON:

Even with the distance, it was always a delight to be on the phone with Mafor... I love everything about her; the way she talks excitedly when she's happy, her laughter, her passion, her faith... She completely captured my heart. We were (still are) 100% sure we're meant for each other. I wanted to marry her as soon as possible, and I couldn't wait to be back.

We had a magical December reunion where I asked for her parents’ blessing, enveloped in the joy of family and festive celebrations. From enchanting carol nights to exciting road trips, we discovered an even deeper depth to our bond.

As we prepare to say “I do” before you and God, our hearts are brimming with joy, eagerly waiting to embark on our forever together.
